As the whole country went PINK today, two things dawned on me. First, the human race is truly amazing. Seeing communities around the country of all ages band together to show support, raise awareness, and fight to cure breast cancer is very moving. The second thought was, last month was Childhood Cancer Awareness month; where were all these people then?

I am in full support of Breast Cancer Awareness month. 40 years ago, a woman getting the terrible news that she had breast cancer was much scarier than it is today. The breast cancer survival rate in 1971 was only 52%; today the 5 year survival rate is 89%. That's a phenomenal increase! More women (and men) are alive today due to funding that was made available to research a cure. A lot of this money is raised via awareness created by people just like you!

Well, the girls at Silly Seahorse and I have decided that we are going to do our part to raise awareness for those who fight a big fight... in a little body.

Cancer affects 1 in 285 children under the age of 20. Over 45 children are newly diagnosed with cancer daily. Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease of children in the United States. 1,250 children under the age of 15 are expected to die of cancer this year.  Many of those children who survive will suffer the side effects of treatment for the rest of their life. Unlike many adult cancers, the causes of childhood cancers are unknown and not linked to lifestyle or environment. All these facts are shocking... but the most heartbreaking of all is that only 4% of the National Cancer Institute's budget is allotted for childhood cancer research.

The children are our future! We believe that each and every one of them deserves the chance to become whatever they choose to be; a doctor who treats other cancer patients, a teacher who supports her student while his brother suffers from this disease; a proud father who spends every available moment with his healthy family. The way that we are going to increase the survival rates is by raising awareness. Let's give the children an opportunity to show us what their future holds, what our future holds!!!

Join us as we #GoGold all year long! Let's make Childhood Cancer a conversation. Many people are unaware of the statistics that surround kids and cancer. I was one of them until very recently when I found out that a sorority sister of mine was watching her sweet son fight this fight. Unfortunately, her time with him ended too soon; but, this doesn't have to be the case for every mother and son. Together, we can #GoGold and get #MoreThan4 for these babies!

The Silly Seahorse is donating 15% of all sales to Childhood Cancer Research. In addition, we will be donating 100% of the profits from any pieces of the #GoGold collection to the research efforts as well!

See the whole collection here! Silly Seahorse Fall 2015 Worth Ave Collection At this time, these bangles are only available for pre-order until we get them up on our website. However, just email us your list of goodies to and we will happily process your order ASAP!!!

Remember, you don't have to donate or spend money to make a difference, there are lots of ways you can get involved and share the message! Let's Fight Like a Kid!!!
